Colourscape at the Holburne Museum, Bath, is a unique experience of the most intense colours you can imagine. Put on a coloured cape and step into a new world where there are no horizons just soft curved edges and intense colour and light. Turn a corner and another fabulous view opens up. Become lost in colour and space and explore until you discover live musicians and dancers leading you on a journey of music and colour.
Each day there will be different programmes of music and performances – this is a ten-day arts festival that takes place within a sculpture.
Monday 20 to Thursday 23 August – Michael Ormiston presents Family-friendly free-flowing workshops and performances. Mongolian Overtone Singing, Tibetan Singing Bowls and instruments from around the world. You can join in on an extraordinary range of unusual instruments. Great for all ages from babies to grandparents!
Friday 24 August Symphony of the Senses: Music based on sounds of the human body and dancers PLUS fragrances weave all the senses into a Symphony taking place in the intense colour labyrinth.
Saturday 25 August: Sylvia Hallett plays Musical Bicycle Wheel (the spokes tuned and bowed!) with many unusual instruments of slate, shells and wood played by local musician Mike Adcock.
Sunday 26 August: Consortium return to the Holburne Colourscape with a range of music for recorders from very small to very large.
Monday 27 August: Flutes of the World: Shakuhachi, Thai flutes, piccolo, bass flute and even a giant Sub-contrabass create a whole orchestra of flutes in Colourscape.
Tuesday 28 August to Wednesday 29 August: Michael Ormiston concludes the festival and visitors can join in a final feast of music and colour.
For three years, from 2012 to 2014, Colourscape was an amazing and incredibly popular experience of colour, light and music that filled the front lawn of the Holburne. Over 25 interlinked coloured chambers invited visitors to explore a unique labyrinth of colour and space and the Holburne is delighted to welcome back Colourscape for Summer 2018.
