Young volunteers were guests of honour at a Thank You Tea hosted by Children’s World on Sunday
Michael Eavis, and local dignitaries from across Somerset, joined Children’s World to congratulate the charity’s Somerset Youth for Children’s World team on a hugely successful and fun year!
After watching a short film of the team’s many accomplishments – including planning and running their own Family Fun Day, a fundraising Drum and Bass Night and receiving training in food hygiene, first aid and stewarding – certificates were presented to the participants and the celebration continued over tea and cake.
Guests included the Vice Chair of Street Parish Council, Cllr Claire Axten CBE, the Mayor of Yeovil, Cllr. David Recardo, and Mayoress, Yvonne Recardo, the Mayor of Glastonbury, Cllr Denise Abbott, and the Deputy Mayor of Bridgewater, Cllr Tony Heywood, and daughter Sophia.
Children’s World Director, Kristen Lindop, said, “What a lovely afternoon! I’d like to thank all our guests for making the event special and our young volunteers feel so appreciated.”
“Many thanks to our volunteer team: Charlotte, Esme, Ollie, Roxanne, Natasha, Joshua, Hannah, Oskar and Stephen, Strode College Music Production 2018 and all the other young people that joined us as volunteers, or for training, and everyone that has supported them. Special thanks also to the Somerset Community Foundation, the Youth Social Action Fund, #iwill Foundation for funding the project.”
