Lots to see and do for all the family at The Royal Bath & West Show!
The Royal Bath & West Show WILL NOW RETURN ON THE 31ST JULY – 2ND AUGUST with new attractions to appeal to all the family, and with over 50 hours of scheduled entertainment every day there’s something for everyone.
Regular visitors will enjoy the usual agricultural attractions as well as old favourites such as the Bath & West Railway and vintage machinery. For technically-minded young members of the family head to the Imagineering Marquee, where an exciting line-up of organisations are bringing a host of new free, fun engineering and technology activities specially developed for children. There are opportunities to see behind the scenes and learn about the fascinating technology that affects our everyday lives – simulators, robots, mechanical challenges and hands-on electronics are just a few of the things to make and do!
The Tractor Ted Farm Fun Zone is a must-see for younger visitors, with activities including the Tractor Ted Bouncy Castle, Digger Den, Tractor Ted Driving Track, Welly Wanging, and an Activity Trail; as well as an appearance from the little green tractor himself! There will be farm fun, stickers, challenges and certificates galore, and after all that excitement there is a chance for some quiet time with Tractor Ted screenings.
If you want to learn more about the journey our food makes visit ‘Farming for the Family’, an opportunity for everyone to learn about the process of Field to Food. Full of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations to get involved in, you can meet cattle, pigs and goats, and taste a variety of milk types while watching the Hurdlebrook Cow Milking show. You can also learn about ploughing, muck spreading, and harvesting thanks to South West Truckers, who will be demonstrating these practices using their model tractors.
Over on the main lawn you’ll find ‘Village School’, which offers plenty of activities and entertainment so that adults can relax whilst watching their children have fun. For the more adventurous and active, pay a visit to the Xtreme Offroad centre, who will be operating 4×4 passenger experiences; or head to the Sports Zone to try out something new.
There is plenty for the grown-ups, too. ‘The Great British Kitchen’ is a new attraction for 2020, where the Show will champion the very best of the wonderful produce available in the South West. Situated in the newly refurbished theatre, ‘The Great British Kitchen’ features a fully-functional demonstration kitchen on the stage, which will be used by three celebrity chefs with local connections over the three days of the show. Briony May Williams, Josh Eggleton and Dean Edwards will be creating dishes with a distinctly South-West flavour in cookery demonstrations, using ingredients available from the Food and Drink Marquee wherever possible – so it will be easy to pick up what you need to recreate the dishes at home!
Some events have been made even better for 2020, including the British Cheese Awards, which has expanded; and Great British Dogs which, following its hugely popular debut in 2019, has relocated to a larger building by the Woodland & Countryside Ring.
Over at the main ring, the key attraction is the Paul Hannam Stunt Show. Since 2015 Paul has used his quad bike to jump over a variety of vehicles including John Deere tractors, fire engines, and 30 tonne Dump trucks, so this is sure to be a huge crowd-pleasing event.
