The Bishop’s Palace shortlisted for Tourism Award

The Bishop’s Palace in Wells is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in two categories at the prestigious Bristol, Bath and Somerset Tourism Awards.

The Palace has been chosen in the Large Visitor Attraction of the Year category, alongside tourism giants The Roman Baths and Noah’s Ark Zoo Farm, and The Bishop’s Table café has also made the final shortlist in the Café and Tearoom of the year.

The Palace will be awarded either a gold, silver or bronze award in each category at this year’s ceremony, which takes place at the Bristol Marriott Hotel on 21st November 2019.

By virtue of being a finalist, the Palace and café will also be automatically considered for the South West Tourism Excellence Awards, along with any matching sections in the national VisitEngland awards.

Chief Executive of the Palace Trust, Rosie Martin, said “We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised in this way and are honoured to have been chosen as a finalist alongside such prestigious attractions. Our staff and volunteers work extremely hard all year round to ensure that The Bishop’s Palace & Gardens has become a top destination in the South West and they always offer a warm welcome to all visitors, so it’s fantastic to see that our efforts have paid off.”

Entries to the Tourism Awards were at a record high this year with 737 entries received from across the South West and 133 from Bristol, Bath and Somerset.

Awards organiser Nell Barrington said “I am absolutely delighted to see the range of top quality businesses that have taken part this year. The competition was so tough and my congratulations go out to all the finalists.”
