Wassail at Glastonbury Tor

Wassail at Glastonbury Tor

Wassailing is an ancient custom that involves drinking cider, singing to the trees in the hope of a good harvest and scaring away any evil spirits that might be lurking.

We’ll be hosting a Wassail full of fun, song and cheer for all the family at Avalon orchard.

There will be a chance to tour the Tor and learn of its mythical history, sing around the trees, hear stories by the fire and sample the juice of this year’s crop. Tours of the Tor will also be happening during the afternoon. On the day entry is available, however please park in the town and walk to the Tor.

It’s important to continue the tradition of wassailling in  Somerset and we are pleased to welcome the druids of Glastonbury, the town crier and our wonderful storytellers who will all be helping to bring the ceremony to life.

There will be fun for all the family with free activities and storytelling from ‘Time and Tide tales’, we will also be welcoming performers throughout the afternoon.  We hope as many families and groups from the local area will come out in support of the event.

Hot food, drinks and local cider will be onsite for purchase (please note cash only). We recommend getting your tickets in advance.

Wassailing at Avalon Orchard will be taking place on 19 January 2019 between 2pm and 6pm. Don’t forget to wrap up warm, bring a torch and cash for the pop up bar.

Booking in advance is advisable, however on the day entry is available, just remember cash for the pop up bar and hot food.
