Taking place every year, Playday is the national day for play that is celebrated across the UK in the first week of August. This year. The theme for the day is “All to Play For – building play opportunities for all children.”
After the last few years of restrictions, Playday organisers are hoping that more people than ever will join in and celebrate the joy of playing. It is hoped that this year’s theme will highlight how important play is for everyone and that families, communities and organisations across the nation will come together to consider how to build better opportunities for all children to play.
According to the experts, playing is essential for children and is especially beneficial for their mental and physical health. It allows them to make friends, develop relationships and have fun, while also feeling connected to their communities.
You can either host your own Playday event or join in with one of the many events taking place across the UK – visit playday.org.uk to find out more about submitting your own event or what is taking place in your area. This year’s event takes place on 3rd August.
