Parent hacks – digital toolkit launched to help Somerset parents

A new online maternity toolkit designed to offer accessible information to families about pregnancy and parenthood has been launched in Somerset for World Breastfeeding Week, 1st – 7th August.

The new Somerset Maternity Toolkit, from Somerset County Council and the wider Local Maternity System (LMS) offers trustworthy information and digital support from pre-conception information and pregnancy, through to infant feeding and transitioning into parenthood.

Councillor Clare Paul, Somerset County Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Public Health and Wellbeing, said:” We are really excited to launch this new and innovative online platform. In a rapidly changing world, the need to digitally access accurate national and local information has never been so important.

“This will revolutionise the way that families get support making it easier to find and more accessible.”

The digital guide is designed to support the beginning and early part of the maternity and parenting journey. It then leads supportively onto the parent carer toolkit for parents/carers of school age children and young people

The maternity toolkit also has a ‘parent hacks’ guide which gives useful tried and tested top tips and includes information on support available, including some which are not widely known about.

The service can be accessed 24/7 from the comfort of your own home or whilst on the move via a smartphone.
