A new multi-use games area in Bath that will benefit the whole community has opened with a new name of Whiteway Green.
The regeneration of the former Rosewarn Park at Whiteway was granted £54,000 in Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding by Bath & North East Somerset Council to create a modern, sustainable multi-use games area (MUGA).
The project was completed at the end of this summer and has provided a low-maintenance, all-weather facility. It was managed by Whiteway Community Association.
The MUGA is a safe space for children to play on with its surrounding fence and has a robust synthetic play surface, suitable for many sports.
The project has been supported by landowner Curo as well as the council.
Councillor Kevin Guy, council Leader, said: “Whiteway Green is a much-needed asset to the community that will enable residents of all ages to get the exercise they need. It will help people to thrive and improve their wellbeing, encouraging enjoyment of the outdoors for decades to come. I’m delighted that we have been able to play our part in supporting this fantastic new facility for Whiteway.”

Whiteway Green has seen the local community, including many young people, become increasingly involved in recent years. It’s great that they are now reshaping the space for all to use. Councillor Sarah Moore, Ward Councillor for Twerton and Whiteway, said: “It is great to see the MUGA in place and being well used. This was requested following a community survey which highlighted a number of improvements that residents wanted. I am pleased we were able to work collaboratively with both Curo and residents to make this happen.”
