Family fun in South Somerset this Easter

Family fun in South Somerset this Easter

Staff and volunteers at National Trust places in South Somerset have been busy getting ready to welcome visitors over the Easter holidays.

Over the Easter weekend 30 March to 2 April, the National Trust team at Barrington Court will be hosting a Cadbury Easter Egg Hunt 11am to 4pm, £2 per hunt, normal admission applies.

Andrea Bartlett, Senior Visitor Experience Officer said: ‘It’s great that we are able to offer the Cadbury Easter Egg Hunts once again. These hunts contribute towards National Trusts conservation projects and it is thanks to the help of our members, visitors and volunteers that beautiful places such as those in South Somerset can be cared for, for ever, for everyone.’

Throughout the Easter holiday, 26 March to 6 April, 11am to 4pm Barrington Court is launching a family springtime trail where visitors can reconnect with nature and stroll through the garden and grounds spotting the many sights and sounds of spring.

At Lytes Cary the Easter Bunny has made friends with the birds in the woods. In fact the birds have offered to look after some of Bunny’s Easter eggs. Visitors can follow in Bunny’s hopsteps around the woods to find the eggs, and figure out which birds are looking after them. Across the fields and through the woodland, this hunt ends with a tasty Cadbury chocolate treat. The trail runs from 30 March to 2 April, 11am to 4pm, £2 per trail, normal admission applies.

Visitors looking to escape the hustle and bustle of Easter need look no further than Montacute House. Ascending St Michael’s Hill, looking closely for the first signs of spring visitors will make their way up the winding paths of this ancient landscape, which was formally a Norman motte and bailey castle (the earthworks still remain). For those who conqueror the challenge there will be a small prize at the West Gate, as well some of the best views in Somerset. For littler children young geese are proudly taking care of an Easter egg in the garden, spot all six for a tasty reward. 27 March to 6 April, 10am to 4pm, normal admission applies.
