Family friendly films to stream during isolation

While we’re off school and potentially off work together, why not host a little family film marathon? You can get together to build a blanket fort in your living room, have snacks and load up either your DVD player or the streaming services of your choice.

Here are a selection of great family-friendly films that you can watch together!

Spider-Man: Into the Spider Verse

This fun family friendly film takes animation to a whole new level! Follow Miles Morales, who has recently taken up the mantle of spider man in his universe as he teams up with the other incarnations of spider man to save reality as we know it.

The Adventures of TinTin: Secret of the Unicorn

Based on the famous comic series, this CGI animation follows TinTin and Snowy as they try to uncover the mystery of the Unicorn all while trying not to lose Captain Haddock, who may hold the key to the whole mystery.

How to train your Dragon

There are now three of these in the series for you to enjoy and all three of them are available on streaming sites and DVD. The story begins with Hiccup, a young Viking who makes friends with a dragon and changes his community for the better. The pair then go on various adventures across three films!

Peter Rabbit

Based on the Beatrix Potter book series, Peter Rabbit and Peter Rabbit 2 let you follow Peter and his friends as they cause havoc and mayhem.

Hotel Transylvania

There are now three films in this series to enjoy, as well as a Netflix limited series. Count Dracula runs a hotel for monsters but everything changes when a human stumbles across them and falls in love with his daughter.

The BFG

Disney’s take on the famous Roald Dahl story, the BFG is about a Big Friendly Giant who meets orphaned girl, Sophie, and takes her back to his home.

Matilda

While we’re on the subject of Roald Dahl, here’s a classic film to share with your children! Matilda is an incredibly gifted girl who takes on her unkind family and her formidable headmistress. Your kids will probably never look at chocolate cake the same way again.

Hook

This is a real classic! Luckily, Netflix has recently added it to their library! Peter Pan is now a grown up and has no memories of Neverland, but when Captain Hook kidnaps his children, he has to return to save them.

Night at the Museum

One the parents will recognise the entire cast in and one the kids will love, plus its about a museum, so you’re learning too! There are now three in the series for you to watch. It follows a security guard who discovers that the displays at the museum he works at come to life at night.

The Spongebob Movie: Sponge out of water

There are several Spongebob Movies out there now, including an animated one and this one. In this Spongebob and friends must head out of Bikini Bottom to save the Krusty Krab’s Krabby Patty recipe.

We’ve lost count of how many Shrek films there are now, but if you’re in the mood for a movie marathon, this series about an ogre called Shrek and his best friend, a donkey called… Donkey are a good place to start.

Paddington
