Shepton Mallet Snowdrop Festival
16 February @ 9:00 am - 17 February @ 5:00 pm
The Snowdrop Festival is a vibrant not-for-profit community project to plant Shepton Mallet with hundreds of thousands of snowdrop bulbs, and to restore the Allen family memorial in the town’s cemetery, in order to celebrate James Allen’s and the town’s place in gardening history.
Most of Mr. Allen’s snowdrop varieties were lost to disease but a few remain, including Galanthus ‘Magnet’ (the symbol of the project) and Galanthus ‘Merlin’, both of which have been granted the Award of Garden Merit by the RHS and both of which are being propagated and planted around Shepton Mallet.
