Kids Takeover Racing

They say never work with children and animals, well, Bath Racecourse is doing both and letting the kids take the reins at their Kids Takeover Racing family funday on Bank Holiday Monday 6 May.
An action-packed day of family fun, it’ll be all smiles as the kids enjoy all of the free family entertainment and you’ll be smiling too as under 18s come in for free! Plus, you can keep the great value going by bringing your own picnic.
It doesn’t matter if you’ve never been racing, the whole family will love seeing the horse up-close in the Parade Ring before soaking up the atmosphere as the horses’ thunder down the home straight and across the finishing line in the seven races taking place throughout the day. The sweetest race of the year will also be taking place as Shetland Ponys battle it out with young jockeys on board in the tracks annual Shetland Pony race.
They’ll be a dedicated family area with inflatables, pony rides, face painting, go carts and ride on toys perfect for toddlers – all included for free. Plus, kids will receive a free activity pack and be invited to wear jockeys silks for a race down the track in the kids’ running race.
Bath Racecourse is located north of Bath City centre and is easily accessed from Bristol and the M4 with plenty of free parking. Alternatively, there’s a bus service from outside Bath Spa train station. As it’s a family day, picnics can be bought into the racecourse but there’s also a variety of food stalls and bars where you can purchase refreshments.
If you book in advance then you’ll benefit from an advance booking discount and a special family ticket option but there will also be tickets available on the day.
Advance tickets for adults cost just £19. Tickets on the gate cost £22. And of course, you don’t have to pay a thing for children under 18!
