MPs have said that the nation’s children’s services are at breaking point and that they need a minimum of £3.1 billion funding by 2025.
The report, published by the Housing Communities and local Government Committee, has said that current funding levels are unsustainable and that £494m of funding would help children and social work improvements would reduce demand. According to the report, severe funding pressures and a growing demand for services have led many to rely entirely on the goodwill of the staff and volunteers.
This report follows a long line of organisations, including councils, charities and economists concerned about the lack of funding for these services.
