Brave Man will Skydive for Children and Families of Frome

Purple Elephant Productions, the people behind the Children’s Festival and Toy Library, are very excited that one of their loyal volunteers is being exceedingly brave and doing a skydive to help raise funds for their work, bringing free activities to the children and families of Frome.

Local Frome resident, John Clarke, has already helped at several Purple Elephant events and is now planning to test his nerve by jumping out of a plane for charity! John’s sponsored skydive for Purple Elephant will take place on Saturday 11th May at GoSkydive in Salisbury. John will be doing a tandem jump from 15,000ft – why not go along and cheer him on?

John said ‘I want to not only experience the thrill, hopefully not terror, of a skydive but also make it an opportunity to support a local organisation which does such great work with the most disadvantaged in our community. Purple Elephant is taking real action in promoting and supporting social inclusion and helping to develop a stronger community. Their events, such as the annual Frome Children’s Festival, the free Sports Festival week, the huge Christmas Party and school holiday activities all help in bringing our community together. Importantly, to promote access to all, particularly those disadvantaged or on low incomes, events and activities are free or at a very small cost. Children benefit by learning new skills, getting out of the house, being active, developing their imaginations, learning to share and to respect others, making new friends and having fun!

Another important service offered by Purple Elephant is the Toy Library with twice weekly Play and Stay sessions. This service provides an opportunity to access play activities in a safe and welcoming environment and to borrow quality toys and games at a low cost. Please donate as much as you can afford and make a difference in enabling Purple Elephant to continue providing such invaluable services to our community.’

Local Giving are running a competition during April to find the fundraiser with the highest number of sponsors. The top 20 fundraisers will have funds added to their total, giving their chosen cause even more support, so if you would like to sponsor John, please do so during April!
