Are you registered to vote?

Bath & North East Somerset Council is urging people who are not yet registered to vote to go online and register ahead of the Tuesday November 26 deadline.

Anyone who has not registered by the deadline will not be able to vote in the General Election on Thursday December 12.

Already more than 130,000 Bath and North East Somerset residents, who were registered before November 6 have received their poll cards. More cards are going out next week to those who have registered to vote since November 6.

British and Commonwealth citizens aged 18 or over can register to vote at parliamentary elections via  www.gov.uk/register-to-vote. EU citizens are not eligible to vote at parliamentary elections.

Anyone unable to go to a polling station on the day of the election can apply for one of the following:

  • A postal vote an application form can be downloaded at  www.bathnes.gov.uk/votebypost.  Once completed and signed the form can be scanned and emailed to elections@bathnes.gov.uk. Alternatively forms can be handed in at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW. If using the post to send the form back please ensure you do it now. Electoral Services must receive postal vote application forms by 5pm on Tuesday 26 November 2019.
  • A proxy vote – a proxy is someone you trust who goes to your polling station and votes on your behalf. The person who acts as a proxy must be 18 or over and registered to vote at parliamentary elections. An application form can be downloaded at www.bathnes.gov.uk/votebyproxyOnce completed and signed the form can be scanned and emailed to elections@bathnes.gov.uk. Alternatively forms can be handed in at the Guildhall, High Street, Bath, BA1 5AW.  Electoral Services must receive proxy vote application forms by 5pm on Wednesday 4 December 2019.
