5 minute craft ideas to keep the little ones amused

With all the changes we’ve seen recently, you might be worried about the kids spending their days in front of a screen rather than learning or engaging with the world around them. Don’t worry though, we’re here to help!

Here are a few craft ideas that are quick and easy, the whole family can get involved with and you can use stuff you have around the house! It’s a simple and cheap way to keep everyone entertained… For a little while at least!

Just make sure to supervise or take charge when it comes to cutting and sticking!

Make a cardboard bear family

We know there might not be very much toilet paper in the shops right now, but when you use up a roll, save the tube and make yourself a little bear family!

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard tubes
  • Paint
  • Paper
  • Black marker
  • Googly eyes
  • Glue
  • Scissors

Make sure to supervise or take charge when it comes to cutting and sticking!

What to do:

Paint your tube the colour of your choice, you can make brown bears, black bears, purple bears or blue ones!

While the paint is drying, cut two ear shapes and a snout out of paper

Use the market to add the details, like colouring in the inside of the ears and adding a nose and mouth to the snout

Once the paint has dried, glue the eyes, snout and ears to the tube.

Once the glue is dry it’s time to play!

Make a rocket

It isn’t just bears you can make out of toilet roll tubes, you can make rockets too!

What you’ll need:

  • Cardboard tube
  • Cardboard
  • Paper
  • Glue
  • Black marker
  • scissors

What to do:

Start off by cutting the paper into a semi circle and making small triangles out of the additional cardboard.

Glue the cardboard triangles to the bottom of the tube

Wrap the paper semi circle around the top of the tube.

Decorate with the marker

And you’re ready to go!

Make an Easter Egg bag

This is perfect for carrying your easter eggs from one area of the house to another and they’re easy to make too!

What you will need:

  • White paper
  • Coloured paper
  • Brown paper bag
  • Glue
  • Scissors
  • Crayons

What to do:

Cut the white paper into a large egg shape and then decorate them using crayons or any stickers or paints you have at home

When it is decorated, glue it to the brown paper

Cut around the egg so the top of the bag is round

Glue a 1-inch strip of paper to the inside of the bag creating a handle for the bag

Start carrying your eggs around!
