The Big Doodle at The Bishop’s Palace in Wells

Calling all young artists! Find your inner Picasso, Hepworth, Hirst or Monet and you could be featured in a Palace exhibition.

This summer, The Bishop’s Palace is holding an art competition for children, designed to get youngsters engaging with art and to discover new skills.

Open to any talented or enthusiastic mini-artists, the competition will have a prize for the winner of each age group and offers the chance to be part of an exhibition at the Palace. The age groups will be divided up into three categories: under 5’s, 6-10yrs and 11-15yrs.

The artworks can be of any subject at all and in any format – the Palace is keen to encourage creativity in all its forms.

Celebrated local artists Suzanne Welch and Chris Lee will announce the winners on Saturday 18 August. All artworks selected by the judges for the shortlist will go on display in The Panelled Room of The Bishop’s Palace from Saturday 11 August.

To enter the competition, budding artists should send in a photograph of their original piece of artwork, by email to thebigdoodle2018@gmail.com or photos can be posted to Freddie Langdon-Daly, at The Bishop’s Palace, Wells, BA5 2PD.

Entries must be accompanied by a name, age and the email address and telephone number of a parent or guardian. The deadline for entries is 5th August and shortlisted artists will be contacted by 8th August.
