#Stepoutside for Naturally healthy May

#Stepoutside for Naturally healthy May

This May is Naturally Healthy Month, so Natural Devon has launched its #StepOutside campaign to encourage families to step outside and get active outdoors to improve their health and well-being.

We all know that being active and being outside surrounded by nature can have huge benefits for your health and well-being. Even those of us who much prefer sitting inside with a book or a television in front of us can’t deny the feeling of serenity that comes over us when we take a stroll through some fresh air. It is the bugbear of those with allergies, but even we (I’m writing this through a haze of watery eyes thanks to a mini heat wave and open windows) feel better having felt a breeze and seen greenery.

One of the great things about the #StepOutside campaign and being naturally healthy through the month of May is that there are so many ways you can get involved. You can go for a walk, a cycle ride, investigate some of the National Trust gardens or wooded areas in the region, you could even just do a bit of planting or exploring in your own garden, just connecting with the outdoors is enough!

Since 2015, the Devon LNP has held a Naturally Healthy Month each year to raise awareness of the benefits of being outdoors. There are planned events that you can get involved with across the South West, as well as tips and guidance on their website to help you get the most out of being outdoors.

Have you got any outdoor activity ideas for the month of May? Let us know on Facebook or Twitter! If you want to get involved with the #StepOutside campaign, there are a range of events taking place across the Mendip area including places in Shepton Mallet, Frome, Wells, Cheddar and more!
