More schools close due to ‘bomb threats’

A number of distressing emails have been sent to schools and colleges across the country causing some to evacuate and close. This follows from a similar incident where schools were receiving threatening messages that saw Bath College choose to evacuate and close both campuses.

At this stage, the emails are believed to be ‘false and malicious’ according to West Midlands Police, the majority of threats have been sent to educational facilities in the Midlands area, including schools in Solihull and Birmingham. Schools have been advised to contact local police if they receive such an email.

The NCA said in a statement: “We are aware of a number of threatening emails being sent to schools and are investigating alongside our partners in the police.”

Over the last 18 months there have been a spate of malicious emails sent to school threatening bomb attacks, all turned out to be hoaxes.
