Mobile roaming charges could be back with no deal Brexit

The government has warned that if there is a no deal Brexit, mobile roaming charges when you travel to Europe could return after they were capped by the EU last year. However, this cap won’t apply to the UK after they leave the EU.

Brexit secretary, Dominic Raab, told reporters that two UK mobile operators had agreed to keep free data roaming and that in the event of a no deal Brexit, the government is proposing to cap any data charge at £45 a month. Even so, he warns that customers should check the roaming policies of their mobile operator before going abroad.
There has recently been a published contingency plan in case of a no deal Brexit.

The plan has also mentioned that drivers holding UK driver’s licences may have to get an international permit if they wish to drive in Europe and that anyone travelling to the EU would need to make sure they have at least six months on their passport. This won’t apply to anyone travelling in Ireland.

Products that are tested in the UK will no longer be able to be sold into the EU without being retested by their bodies to meet their minimum safety standards, though, at the moment, this doesn’t apply to automotive, aerospace, pharmaceuticals, chemicals or medical devices.

Brits applying for a new passport after Brexit will continue to receive burgundy passports for a while, although they will no longer say European Union on the front. From late 2019, applicants will receive a blue passport.
