This July and August, summer holiday adventures are returning to the National Trust’s Fyne Court and, for the first time, Wellington Monument.
Promoting getting children active in the outdoors in a fun, exploratory way, activities will differ across sites. However, each week’s activities will encourage children to explore the countryside, themed around the National Trust’s 50 things initiative, with activities including building dens, using a compass and bug safaris.
The National Trust team will be at Wellington Monument on Mondays between 10am to 2pm, 30 July to 27 August, for ‘Go wild at the Monument’.
Emma Jones, Community Engagement and Fundraising officer said ‘I’m so pleased to be working closely with the Wellington community and can’t wait to meet families during the summer holidays. Children of all ages are welcome, there will be a chance to get stuck-in with an activity and get closer to nature.’
Emma continues: ‘We’re pleased to be able to say we’re committed to saving the Monument. We’re launching a fundraising campaign and hope that our events will help towards saving the monument and keep it special for ever, for everyone.’
At Fyne Court, near Bridgwater the National Trust is continuing with their ever-popular Wild Weeks activities. Throughout the summer holidays on a Wednesday, 10am- 2pm (25 July to 29 August), they’ll be bringing a whole host of fun. Each week there will be 3-4 different activities to join in with, each based on a theme such a light and dark.
All activities are free, and no booking is necessary; however a suggested donation of £2 per child is welcomed. Both Fyne Court and Wellington Monument are free to enter though car parking charges apply.
