Campaign success for railway path to school ramp

Pupils at Redfield Edge Primary School, in Bristol, are celebrating after their campaign to get a ramp installed from the Bristol and Bath Railway Path to their school has been successful. Kingswood MP, Chris Skidmore and local Councillors, Sam Bromiley and Paul Hughes went along to share the good news with the Year 5 pupils who have been involved in letter writing and lobbying.
There are steep steps that currently link the path to the school and the public footpath that runs nearby, but they are a struggle for people with buggies, bikes and mobility problems.

Cllr Bromiley said the pupils had first raised the need for a ramp with him and Mr Skidmore three years ago and they have been pushing for it ever since.

Now South Gloucestershire Council says it is in a position to fund the project and has been working on a design. It is hoped the ramp will be installed by the autumn of 2019.
